Club to continue to encourage more youngsters to take up fishing as a sport

The Denbigh & Clwyd Angling Club has announced that it is to continue to offer free membership to youngsters for the 2015 season to encourage more young people to take up the sport and to spend more time outdoors in the countryside.

Under the initiative, youngsters aged up to 12 will be able to fish club waters free of charge and those aged between 12 and 18 can become members for a token annual fee of just £10. Youngsters under twelve won’t even have to buy an Environment Agency Rod Licence and for those aged between 12 and 16 years of age a rod licence will only cost £5.

Commenting, club chairman, Craig Evans, said, “The only stipulation is that for safety reasons, youngsters must be accompanied by an adult on each visit, who does not have to be a member of the club, unless they want to fish themselves.” The club will also provide tuition for any youngster interested in taking up the offer.

Anybody interested can obtain more information by contacting membership secretary, Colin Blythin, on 01745 591281 or can join online or download an application form from the Membership section of the club’s website.
