If our fly selection of around 1,150 varieties doesn't contain that special pattern you were after, we do have a local fly tier that is happy to tie them up for you.
Although Arthur Foxon has now retired from the shop, we are very lucky that he does still turn his hand to fly tying for us on occasion (when he is available). As long as you can supply a pattern for him to make a close copy from he's willing to give most things a go! He asks that orders are a minimum of 12 flies but as you would expect, his standard of tying is extremely high.
Just pop in with your pattern and we'll get them ordered, alternatively you could do it through the post or via email including a photo.
Alternatively, if you prefer tying your own flies, the Vale of Clwyd Angling Club hold a series of fly tying tuition classes during the Winter months at the fire station offices in Denbigh.
The classes are free to members and non-members and aimed at everybody from the complete novice to proficient fly-tyers interested in tying flies in a social atmosphere and discussing new techniques and patterns etc.
A small selection of equipment and materials will be provided thanks to support from National Resources Wales' Sustainable Fisheries initiative but anybody attending can also bring their own fly-tying equipment with them.
Classes are on Wednesdays (from mid-October through to March) starting at 7pm, parking is at the rear of the Fire Station building and there is a "kitty" for tea, coffee and biscuits. For more information phone club chairman Craig Evans on 07968 216419
